POMPEY SUPPORTERS TRUST STATEMENT ON PORTPINS BID FOR PORTSMOUTH FOOTBALL CLUB
Following the announcement on Friday 18th May of the intention of Portpin and Balram Chainrai to bid again for Portsmouth Football Club the Pompey Supporters Trust would like to give the following response.
Portpin submitting an offer is not a surprise and our inital reaction is that we carry on with the huge task of putting together a bid. This may provide the meetings at Fratton Park with some added spice and extra questions but our position is clear.
Despite Portpin and Balram Chainrai saying in their statement that now is the time to turn the club around we have to remind the fans that since Portpin became involved in the club it has suffered Administration twice and has been relegated to League One.
We have to ask how a company that will seek to recoup many millions of pounds will be a better owner than a Community Buy-Out that will not remove a penny?
We also cannot forget that Portpin have made promises before that have been broken, the Small Creditors that have been left unpaid are a prime example of how Portpin say one thing and then do another.
If the choice is now between Portpin and a Community Buy-Out then we will make our case in the coming days as to why fans should continue to back our bid which we believe has the best interests and the long term future of Portsmouth Football Club at its heart.
The Pompey Supporters Trust continue to ask fans to back their pre-share scheme and help them to put together a bid that will safeguard Portsmouth Football Club and give PKF and the Creditors Committee an alternative option.
