Away Travel News
Throughout the season we try to give some suggestions for Pompey fans travelling to away games.
With the first team not having an away game between Saturday 30th November at Hartlepool and Saturday 21st December at Bristol Rovers, our thoughts turn to the fascinating fixture at St Marys on Tuesday 10th December, kick-off 7pm. Our Youth Academy team have progressed to the third round of the FA Cup and drawn Saints away.
Some previous trips to the St. Mary's stadium, SO14 5FP, have been fraught with problems for the average supporter. Most recently a 'bubble' game that saw us all meeting in Portsmouth or Cosham to be 'bussed' to the stadium, rather than the usual Park and Ride from Bursledon. This then will be a pleasant release from that type of restriction and for the car travellers, being able to drive to the ground and then have parking adjacent to the away end turnstiles for just £2, will be a bonus that only regular travellers will fully understand. To make it even better, we understand that the bars in the stadium will be open one and a half hours before kick-off.
If you're travelling by road then from the M3 take the A33 into Southampton. Continue on the A33 until you reach the junction with the A3024 Northam Road and turn left onto this road towards Northam. Then turn right onto the B3038, Britannia Road for the stadium.
If you consider train travel then remember that Southampton Central station is over a mile and a half from the ground. St. Denys, Bitterne and Woolston stations are only fractionally closer. Jumping in a taxi would seem the best bet.
Tickets are £5 for adults and £2 for concessions and are available now at https://tickets.portsmouthfc.co.uk/Online/
