The Pompey Supporters' Trust (PST) remains one of the finest examples of what supporters' trusts can achieve anywhere in the United Kingdom.
While other clubs became supporter-owned before Pompey, none faced the scale of the challenge we overcame or had to raise the level of funding required to save and secure our club. Thanks to the incredible commitment of Pompey supporters, we achieved something many believed was impossible. That will always be the PST's legacy.
Although the PST is no longer the club's owner, our purpose remains much the same as when the Trust was established in 2010. We are committed to ensuring that supporters continue to have a strong, respected and influential voice in the future of Portsmouth Football Club.
Our role is to represent Portsmouth FC supporters and strengthen the relationship between the club and its community. Our mission is simple: to be the voice of Pompey fans while helping to enhance the club's social, cultural and economic value. We achieve this through regular dialogue with the club, both directly and through the Heritage & Advisory Board.
The open and positive relationship we have with the club should not be underestimated. These communication channels are invaluable, allowing the PST to be both a supportive partner and, when necessary, a constructive critical friend. Maintaining that relationship is essential if supporters are to continue having a meaningful voice.
A great example of what this relationship delivers is the annual analysis of Portsmouth FC's accounts produced by our Treasurer. If you haven't read it yet, I would strongly recommend it. We provide a detailed and accessible explanation of the club's finances, helping supporters understand the accounts without needing an accounting qualification.
We're only able to provide this level of insight because of the trust we've built with the club. They share the accounts with us before publication, giving us time to study them in detail, ask questions and clarify any issues before producing our analysis. I would argue that this detailed financial review alone is worth the £5 annual membership fee.
Membership, however, offers much more. You'll receive regular updates on the work of the PST and the club, invitations to selected events, access to away ticket opportunities and, most importantly, the right to vote in Trust board elections and on key policy decisions. Membership isn't just about the benefits - it's about playing an active role in the future of your club and helping to protect what makes Pompey special.
Membership is curently set at £5 per annum. Every pound is used responsibly and transparently, with independently audited accounts available for all members to view.
Looking ahead, the PST will continue working for the long-term benefit of Portsmouth Football Club while representing supporters at every level of the game. We have earned our place at the table with football's governing bodies and will continue to ensure that fans' voices are heard. Alongside the Football Supporters Association, we will keep campaigning for positive change and working with Parliament on the issues that matter most to supporters.
