The Pompey Supporters' Trust was pleased to announce in 2022 that it completed it's donation of £250,000 to Pompey in the Community to help fund the construction of the John Jenkins Stadium.
The donation was been funded by the surplus of unwithdrawn shares and other reserves of the PST following the sale of Portsmouth Football Club in 2017. Following the sale, the PST informed shareholders that any surplus from the sale would be put towards creating a lasting legacy for the city of Portsmouth.
The project went on to create a new Community Hub with two 3G pitches, changing rooms and a gym.
This facility gave Pompey in the Community a much needed base for continuing it's vital work providing training and eduction for thousands of children, as well as supporting older people and people with disabilities. This work was recognised by the award of an MBE to Pompey in the Community CEO, and former PST board member, Clare Martin.
Simon Colebrook, the then Chair of the PST, said "We have been very keen to see a lasting legacy for the city following the sale of our shares in Pompey in 2017. This community facility will forever show the collective power of our fan base in not only raising the money to save our football club, but also in helping to provide a place in the city where children, disabled people and older residents can realise the benefits and enjoyment of participation in sport."
